Ulemu Chimzimu

Director of Women Ministries/Human Resource Manager
BA Biblical Studies, Minor in Radio and TV Communication

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty." (Psalm 91:1)

Ulemu Chimzimu was born on August 19, 1982. She is a third born in a Christian family of five children - three boys and two girls. Her mother is a nurse, and her father is a retired banker. She finished high school in 2002 and went straight to college at African Bible College (ABC). She graduated with a major in Bible and a minor in Biblical Studies.

Before hearing about the needs of the Dzuwa community, Ulemu had no intention of staying in a village like Dzuwa since she grown up in the city her entire life. Everything changed in 2006, when Fletcher Matandika, Founder and CEO of JTW, came to ABC just a few months before her graduation. He shared with her and others about the shortage of teachers and the spiritual needs in Dzuwa. Ulemu felt God's call on her life to go to Dzuwa and to help alleviate the problems in the region. She moved to Dzuwa soon after her graduation.

In 2006, there was a hunger crisis in the Katayauta area and Fletcher decided to help the women support their families by providing small business loans. She began working with these women in 2006 to provide them with technical support in running their businesses. In addition, she also started to teach the women the Word of God through Bible studies.

She is so excited about the work God is currently doing in Dzuwa and is thrilled to be a part of this needy community. Through teaching, Bible sharing and interaction with the women, God has deepened her love for the people of Dzuwa, and she feels honored to be called to such a noble task. As Ulemu always puts it, "To God be the Glory!"
