Michael Kane
One of Michael's favorite Bible verses expresses his hope to hear directly from our Lord the words: "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25: 21)
Michael Kane was born in London, the son of an Austrian refugee Otto Kun and his English wife Betty. In 1992, he married Juliet at the church they attended in London. In 1994, they moved to Portland, Oregon with their eldest daughter Isabel. Since then, their family has increased to include Imogen, Clementine, and Catherine. Michael and his family attend Evergreen Presbyterian Church, (www.evergreenpca.com) where he is a Ruling Elder. Since arriving in the US, Michael completed his undergraduate degree at Liberty University and subsequently obtained an MBA. Michael chairs the board of his family business, which trades in the US as UEi, a leading manufacturer of portable test and measurement tools, www.ueitest.com.
In 1999, with several other families, Michael and Juliet helped start St. Stephen's Academy, a Classical and Christian school, in Beaverton, Oregon, www.ststephensacademy.com. From three families meeting part-time, the school has grown to almost 130 students meeting in a dedicated facility with a full-time Principal and almost twenty faculty. The school is accredited by Christian Schools International and is seeking accreditation with the Association of Classical Christian Schools. Michael also serves on the boards of other not-for-profit organizations.
In 2008, JTW President Fletcher Matandika met with Michael and other members of an Evergreen ministry, Fresh Start Microloans (www.freshstarmicroloans.com), which had previously raised funds for microloan projects in Malawi. Fletcher's vision and enthusiasm encouraged Michael to learn more about JTW Ministries in general and its microloan program in particular. This resulted in a visit to Dzuwa in March 2009 with Clementine and opportunities to visit Dzuwa Elementary School and almost every business funded by loans from JTW. Subsequently, Michael was invited to join the JTW boards in the USA and Canada. Michael is very grateful for the opportunity to serve the vision of JTW Ministries.
