Medical "Open House" Draws Hundreds of People
November 9, 2009
In advance of the opening of the new medical clinic, a team from the High Desert Church in Victorville, California, USA provided free medical services to more than 250 people at a two-day open house. Using one of the future homes of the medical clinic workers as their base, they treated more than 100 people on the first day. At the end of the first day, they had to turn away more than 150 others, who had to return the following day. The second day, hundreds of people lined up for a medical consultation and treatment, and more than 100 were assisted, including many children.
Due to their departure time, they were not able to treat everybody who had come for help. According to Elliot Khembo, Director of Joy to the World Ministries in Malawi, "It was really sad to see sick people going back home untreated. But HDC did a great job, and it was a wonderful, though tiresome, experience."
Joy to the World is awaiting governmental approval of the new medical clinic, which will hopefully open its doors to treat more people soon. Please pray with us that the clinic opens very soon.
