McDonald Mkwezalamba
Sports Evangelism Coordinator, Irrigation Project Supervisor
BA Biblical Studies, Minor in Communication
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6,7)
Born on September 22, 1984, McDonald Mkwezalamba is the second of five children. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies and a minor in Mass Communication from African Bible College. He graduated with the class of 2008. Mac D, as he is popularly known, joined Joy to the World Ministries on permanent basis in June 2008, right after his graduation. He serves as the Sports Outreach Coordinator and Irrigation Project Supervisor.
His responsibilities as a Sports Outreach Coordinator include conducting Bible studies with the youth and organizing sports outreaches with the aim of evangelizing the youth and members of the community. As the Irrigation Project Supervisor, he is responsible for recruitment of members of the community deemed fit to join farm clubs that are supported by JTW, ensuring the smooth running of projects, and conducting devotions with the farmers. In addition, Mac D helps with teaching at Dzuwa Elementary School. He believes that education (next to salvation) is the second best thing anyone can ever have, since no one can take it away from you. He believes that the best thing he can offer the children of Dzuwa is help in establishing a good foundation for their life, so that they can more easily understand life's issues and the Bible.
McDonald describes his passion for what he does: "I am passionate about youth ministry. I realize that the fact that I got saved at a young age does not mean that all the youth are saved as well. There are a lot of youth who are living and die in sin. This really breaks my heart. My one desire is to ask God to use me to bring these young men to Himself. For this reason, I plan to study more about ministering to youth so that I can become effective in the youth ministry."
His favorite passage of scripture is John 17:20-26, and he comments: "It never ceases to amaze me every time I read this passage. Just to knowing that Jesus Christ saw fit to pray for me as one of the believers makes me praise God more and more."
