Business Manager, The Lighthouse Christian Centre and Internet Cafe
BA (Hons) Education, MA Information Services Management, MCLIP Chartered Institute of Library and Information Specialists
"Jesus said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life'" (John 8:12)
Jayne comes from the United Kingdom, where she studied Education and Librarianship at university and qualified as a Chartered Librarian in 1999. That same year, she received Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.
In 2008, while working as School Librarian at Oban High School, she met Fletcher Matandika. It was a remarkable encounter, one she is absolutely convinced was brought about by God. When Jayne heard about the work of JTW in Dzuwa Village, she knew that God was calling her get involved in some way. In fact, God was calling for a long-term commitment to Malawi. Jayne is the first to admit that she struggled and tussled with Him over this. However, when she finally accepted God's will for her, peace of mind followed. Jayne arrived in Malawi in July 2009 to begin work as a full-time missionary.
Jayne is currently based in the town of Kasungu and is working as Business Manager at The Lighthouse Christian Centre and Internet Cafe. This is a new chapter in the life of JTW and takes its ministry outside of Dzuwa village for the first time.
Jayne says: "The Lighthouse offers people access to an extensive Christian Library as well as to high quality IT services. It is our hope that through this new library discipleship, we will bring people into Christian maturity. The centre derives its name from the light of our Lord, and we aim to be a beacon to the people of Kasungu - a place where anybody and everybody is welcome - a place which shines out God's love, grace and mercy. I was a non-Christian for many years and know what it is like to live in darkness. When I accepted Jesus into my life, I experienced His light; it my dream to take that same light - the light of His salvation - out into the community of Kasungu and to share the good news of Jesus with as many people as possible."
