When our missionaries first moved to Dzuwa Village, they realized that an Internet connection would not just be a luxury, but a necessity. There was no easy way to connect with the outside world from the remote village, which is approximately 3 hours' drive (on a dirt road) north of Lilongwe. Cell phone coverage was not dependable, and they'd need a Hummer to navigate the roads from more modern towns to Dzuwa. On top of this, they would spend much time and money going to and from Lilongwe to send emails. But the world simply needed to know what God was doing in Dzuwa, and we needed a reliable means of communication. Though it seemed like there was no way out. BUT GOD had His own plans.

By faith, between the months of August and September 2008, JTW began wondering about the possibility of bringing an Internet connection to the village of Dzuwa. We contacted MTL (a local telephone and Internet service provider) to ask them to perform a signal test to determine whether they could provide Dzuwa with wireless Internet access. When they came out to conduct the test, the signal was too weak, as they had expected.

"Is there any way we can solve the signal strength problem?" one missionary asked.

"Well, maybe a VHF antenna might help," replied an MTL technician.

"Can the antennas be found in Malawi?"

"Yes, but they are scarce."

"Any chance of getting one for Dzuwa?"

"Well, we will try."

In January 2009, God provided the funds needed for the Internet project in Dzuwa. Coincidentally, MTL had VHF antennas available in stock. On Thursday, January 29, 2009, MTL technicians installed the Internet gadgets in the heart of Dzuwa village. Dzuwa is finally connected to the rest of the world through the Internet. Isn’t God amazing!?

Internet access in Dzuwa has made life tremendously easier for the JTW missionaries who live there. They no longer have to travel to Lilongwe to send emails, but instead can use all of their precious time serving the people, knowing that they would be able to send their reports any time when they get home.

The Internet equipment is run on generator power since Dzuwa does not have an alternative source of electricity. We are making efforts to secure solar power so that we won't have to continue buying gasoline for the generator. JTW Malawi would like to thank all of their partners and donors for making the lives of their missionaries easier. May all the glory be to God Almighty!
